LaseMD Glo and Ultra

LaseMD (specifically the LaseMD Ultra) is a “fractional non-ablative” laser treatment. The LaseMD creates tiny thermal channels in your skin to kickstart collagen production without removing the top layer of skin.

About LaseMD

LaseMD is a popular “fractional non-ablative” laser treatment. That means it creates tiny thermal channels in your skin to kickstart collagen production without removing the top layer of skin. It’s often called a “Thulium” laser.

Think of it as the middle ground between a gentle facial and an aggressive resurfacing laser—it gives you the “glow” without the week-long “scary” peeling phase.

How it Works

The LaseMD uses a specific wavelength () that targets the water in your dermis.

  • Micro-Channels: The laser creates microscopic “holes” in the skin. These channels act as pathways.

  • Nanoparticle Delivery: While those channels are open, your provider applies medical-grade serums (like Vitamin C, Retinol, or Tranexamic Acid). Because of the laser, these nutrients penetrate much deeper than they ever could on their own.

  • Healing Response: Your body rushes to repair these tiny “injuries,” producing new collagen and elastin in the process.

What to Expect During the Session

The actual procedure is surprisingly quick, usually lasting about 10 to 20 minutes.

    1. Prep: Your skin is cleaned. While some providers use numbing cream, many patients find the Ultra version comfortable enough to go without it.

    2. The Sensation: You’ll feel a warm, tingling, or “static-like” sensation as the handpiece moves across your face. It’s generally described as a 3 out of 10 on the pain scale.

    3. Serum Application: Once the lasing is done, the specialized serum is massaged into the skin.

The Ideal Candidates

You are likely a great fit if you fall into any of these categories:

  • The “Prevention” Group: People in their 20s and 30s looking to stop fine lines before they start (often called “Prejuvenation”).

  • Melasma & Pigment Sufferers: LaseMD is one of the few lasers that can effectively treat Melasma without the high risk of heat-induced flare-ups.

  • Busy Professionals: If you want results but can’t take 5–7 days off for your skin to peel (you’ll just look slightly “sunburned” for a day).

  • All Skin Tones: Unlike many lasers that are risky for darker skin (Fitzpatrick IV-VI), LaseMD is safe for melanin-rich skin because it targets water in the dermis rather than pigment in the epidermis.

What it Specifically Treats

  • Fine Lines: Especially around the eyes and mouth.

  • Sun Damage: Freckles, age spots, and “actinic keratosis” (rough, precancerous patches).

  • Texture: Large pores and mild acne scarring.

  • Brightening: It’s famous for the “UltraGlo” effect—a significant boost in radiance.

The Treatment (20–40 minutes)

For most “Ultra” treatments, a topical numbing cream is applied. You’ll sit for about  20-30 mintues, until your skin feels “heavy” or numb. (Note: For the very light “glow” treatments, numbing is not necessary, as the laser is quite tolerable).

Yes, your skin will be red and irritated. You will feel hot, like a sunburn for about 2 hrs. post treatment. Your skin will feel dry and develop a “sandpaper” like texture as it heals. Surface pigment may rise to the top of the skin and flake away. Deeper treatments may cause some swelling.
